AVOID THIS OIL TANK REMOVAL SCAM!
Here’s how it happens: FIRST, an underground oil tank is found on property. then a company removes the tank. They find oil in the dirt underneath tank. They Take soil samples for anlaysis. They Obtains results and if sample is positive for petroleum Company they tell you “remediation” is required. Remediation can cost $10,000 to $30,000 or more. But here’s the truth: In New Jersey according to the NJDEP the soil must be remediated or removed if the levels of extractable petroleum hydrocarbons (EPH) are above 5,100 parts per million (ppm). If levels are above 1,000 ppm an ecological study must be done. But the oil tank environmental companies wont tell you that! So make sure you chck the ppm in your soil test results to know for sure if you are actually required to spend any money on remediation!
